C&C High Tunnel Farms is located in Scandia, Kansas, and owned and operated by Chris and Christi Janssen. They opened their business in 2009, with a focus on growing tomatoes and a few other vegetables. Today their business includes a wide selection of vegetables, a main street storefront, and a fully subscribed CSA program.
C&C High Tunnels offers fresh produce year-round. They are currently offering winter spinach, kale, radishes and a spring mix that also includes lettuce, asian greens and mustard. In the summer, their selection includes heirloom tomatoes, Romanesco, peppers, broccoli, cantaloupe and watermelon to name a few.
C&C High Tunnels was one of the first businesses in our area to offer a CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture. Their CSA lets consumers sign up for a weekly basket of fresh produce or meat delivered directly to their door. They deliver weekly to homes and businesses within a 75 mile radius of Scandia, and serve 150 subscribers a year. Contact them soon to sign up for a weekly produce surprise, as their available spots sell out quickly.
The newest addition to the business is their storefront located on Main Street in Scandia. They are open Tues – Friday from 12:30 to 5:00, and carry their own locally grown produce as well as a selection of specialty foods, soaps and crafts. My favorite day is Wednesday when the bakery delivers fresh baked breads, rolls and kolaches.
Christi shared that without the Swedish-American State Bank they would not have had the capital to start their business…and that it’s reassuring to them knowing we have a friendly staff ready to address their needs. We take pride in helping new businesses, and love seeing small businesses thrive in our local communities.
A big Scandia Main St. Salute to Chris and Christi Janssen on making their vision for C&C High Tunnels come to life.
Welcome Home to the Swedish-American State Bank, member FDIC, equal housing lender.
